There was a man stealing third. The batter does not have to move. The ball hit the bat and shot to the backstop. Can the runner who stole third come home, is it a dead ball, what is the ruling?
As long as the batter doesn't move in such a way to interfere, the ball is live. What's really fun is when the ball goes out of play -- all runners get two bases on the error.
